CP+B Vet Assumes Head of Integrated Production Post at Chiat NY

chadtbwanyIt took some time, but the folks at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York have finally landed a new head of integrated production in Chad Hopenwasser, who joins the agency after spending nearly the last eight years at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Hopenwasser essentially succeeds Robert Valdes, who left Chiat NY last spring and eventually joined up with Droga5 NY to serve as head of interactive production. But Valdes, as you may know, has recently left Droga5 to join up with old Chiat pal Mark Figliulo at the latter’s new shop, Figliulo & Partners.

As for Hopenwasser, the exec spent the last couple of years at CP+B  serving as VP/director of video production across the agency’s network, working on, among other efforts, campaigns for Xbox and the new Kraft Mac n’ Cheese work starring Vanilla Ice. Prior to his lengthy stay at CP+B, Hopenwasser spent six years at Grey New York. He will officially assume his new post at Chiat NY in mid-March and work along the agency’s ECD, Matt Ian, and report to report to office president, Robert Harwood-Matthews.

Valdes, Droga5 Part Ways

drogasmallAfter spending barely nine months at Droga5 New York as head of interactive production, Robert Valdes has left the agency, sources confirm. Valdes, you may recall, joined David Droga & crew after a four-year stint as head of production at TBWA\Chiat\Day NY, where he worked on several projects for accounts including Absolut and Jameson. Where’s he now, you ask? Well, Valdes just so happened to join up with his fellow former Chiat NY colleague, Mark Figliulo, who launched his Figliulo&Partners shop last year. Valdes is in familiar territory at F&P, where he has assumed the role of partner/head of production.

As for Droga5, our sources tell us that the agency is planning to replace Valdes, though no timetable has been set as far as we know.

Reardon, Chiat NY Part Ways

Sources familiar with the matter confirm that Christopher Reardon, the U.K. native who’s spent nearly four years at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, has turned in his resignation at the agency as of last week. No word yet on when his last day is or where he’s headed, but Reardon has most recently served as executive director of brand experience at TBWA\C\D NY. His departure comes on the heels of Chiat NY’s executive director of operations Jonathan Stern quietly leaving for the director of digital strategy on IBM post at OgilvyOne and head of production Robert Valdes quietly splitting for Droga5. Yes, quietly.

Anyhow, prior to his four-year stint at TBWA\C\D NY, Reardon worked on the UX side at the likes of Schematic and NBC. We’re hearing some sort of announce at Chiat NY might be in the works today, but no confirmation as of yet. We’ll keep you updated.

Saatchi NY VP Gonda Heading to Droga5

We’ll try to make this quick, but yes, Droga5 NY confirms that Daniel Gonda will be joining the agency, effective July 1, as group account director. The inquisitive-looking Gonda has spent nearly the last three years as VP/management director at Saatchi & Saatchi’s New York hub. Prior to said Publicis Groupe-owned agency, the exec had fairly lengthy, familiar stints on the account side at the likes of JWT, Euro RSCG and TAXI. Gonda’s hiring comes on the heels of Droga5 nabbing TBWA\Chiat\Day NY alum Robert Valdes as its head of interactive production. We’re checking to see what the former’s position exactly entails at camp Droga. Should have an update shortly. Update: Gonda will be overseeing Droga5′s Coke Zero and Newcastle Brown Ale accounts.

Valdes Quietly Lands at Droga5

Well, this tidbit flew under the radar, but thanks to a heads up from tipsters, it appears that Robert Valdes, who recently TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, has indeed joined Droga5 NY as head of interactive production. We’re following up with the latter agency to get some more details on his arrival. As we reported over a month ago, Valdes was leaving TBWA C\D NY, where he spent nearly four years as its head of production, for a “new opportunity.” During his time at Chiat NY and TBWA network, Being, the production vet worked on several projects for Absolut and Jameson among other accounts. Prior to TBWA, Valdes spent three years as an executive producer at CP+B. We’ll fill in the blanks when we can.

Update: Droga5 confirms that Valdes has joined the agency as head of interactive production, which is a newly created position. His first day is today.
