The Piroulet Lamp

9 out of 10 cats love posing for this cat font generator

“9 out of 10 cats love Adland” is what it says. Now that I have shown you Nekofont cat font text generator I’m sure this Monday’s production levels are shot to hell while everyone starts printing out cat-signs for everything in the office. That’s fine, carry on. Don’t forget the espresso machine & pool table.

The attention to detail is the best, look at the kitteh posing as lower case “l”, look at that kitteh-smile. These are happy cats. It’s a happy cat font. Oh shit I’ve turned into a crazy cat lady haven’t I? Just in time for the entire internet to join me! Admit it, you love them too!

desicreative – Indian Advertising Creative Blog and Community (beta 1.4)

Minal Dusane Mali is a Mumbai based aspiring illustrator & Graphic Designer. She is also a co-founder of ‘Yomy Designs’. Her passion for art makes everything easy for her. She loves to experiment with different styles & various mediums. Her expertise lies in Character designing, Story-boarding & Vector Info-graphics. She has worked with variety of clients that includes Reliance Digital Tv, HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum), TVS Scooty Pep, 48 Hours Film Project, Axe Deodorant (HUL), Asian Paints, Bajaj Allianz Travel Insurance, AD2Campaign, Nimbuzz, Dum Maaro Dum Movie, Bombay Se (Dubai), Ekam Amritsari Kitchen, Godrej Hair Dye etc.

Why are you a Graphic Designer?
I believe, illustrations & designs are a strong medium of communication. Right from my childhood days, my frequent visits to art schools & exhibitions inspired me to take graphic design & illustration as a profession. I developed a strong liking for the subject by constant practice & improvisation. For me it’s a way to express my ideas & thoughts.

Did you attend school for fine art or design?
Yes. I graduated Bachelor in Fine Arts from Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai. Having spent 4 years at the art collage I honed my design skills and also learned the practical application of my creative ideas.

You have a distinct style of Design. How long did it take you to develop your style?
I have always been courageous to experiment with various mediums & styles. And over the years I developed a distinct style which serves as a medium to express my thoughts. It was a very long process of trial & errors but the effort was worth it to develop a unique style.

Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
Yes. My first role model is my mom who taught me to survive in difficult situations. My father being very good calligrapher influenced my approach towards design. Also my husband encourages me a lot in my creative profession. He is also a role model for me. The great artists like R. K. Laxman, Mario Miranda, Walt Disney, Raja Ravi Varma, S. D. Phadnis, John Fernandis, M. F. Husain, Bal Thakre, Ravi Paranjape inspired me to improve continuously.

Who was the most influential personality on your career in graphic design?
Many Artists! It’s difficult to take one name.

When did you start freelancing?
I have been freelancing since my collage days. I have worked with many advertising agencies as well as production houses.

Was there any time when you wanted to quit graphic design?
Never.

Are many advertising agencies hiring graphic designers? Do you work more with agencies or publishers?
Definitely. Mostly I have worked with advertising agencies & production houses.

Do you have clients who give you steady work or do you advertise for new clients often?
I have been fortunate enough to work with clients who believed in my ability to deliver excellence in projects.

Any other Indian graphic designers who you admire?
I admire the work of young illustrators & designers like Sameer kulavoor, Lokesh Karekar, Rahul Gaikwad, Sanjay Patel.

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on graphic design as a career option?
The field of commercial art is very practical in nature. In order to differentiate your designs you need to work hard. Initially a graphic designer should work on as many projects he or she can. Eventually money would follow but execute the project with utmost honesty & dedication.

Do you think Clients are opening up to keeping aside a decent respectable budget for design work? Do you think clients are understanding that they need to invest in Design as a communication tool and also to cut the clutter, and that good design comes at a price?
Today differentiation is the key to survival. Hence, designing can be used as a tool by client to stand out in a cluttered market. I think it would be imperative for clients to keep aside a decent respectable budget for a competition advantage.

Mac or PC?
I am more comfortable with PC only.

Who would you like to take out for dinner?
I always would like to go out for dinner with my family or my friends.

What’s on your iPod?
I have huge collection of Lata & Asha Mangeshkar hindi & Marathi songs. I love to hear Indian classical music, old Marathi songs, old Hindi songs, silent songs from latest hindi movies.
