Need a Creative Director? You Can 3-D Print This One

It’s not enough for Johnnie Ingram to leave his footprint on the ad business.

The new creative director at Team One in Los Angeles had himself rendered in 3-D so his friends and former colleagues “can have a little piece of Johnnie wherever they may go,” according to the agency’s tongue-in-cheek announcement of his arrival on the West Coast.

Julie Michael Promoted to President of Team One

This week marks a changing of the guard in the upper echelons of Team One: Saatchi & Saatchi’s Lexus/luxury-focused agency unit announced that longtime exec Julie Michael will assume the role of president on August 1st.

Michael replaces fellow Team One vet Paul Mareski, who spent 15 years with the agency and six as president. The official word is that he’s leaving for a purpose far closer to home: “pursu[ing] his dream to relocate his family to his hometown of Detroit and participate in the city’s rebirth.” In a statement, Mareski adds, “This move allows our children to grow up with 14 of their cousins just blocks from our new home in Birmingham, Mich.”

As for Michael, the incoming president has been with Team One since 1998, moving up the ranks from director of event marketing/promotions to director of business development to her most recent position as executive director at the agency. Along the way, the exec has not only worked on Lexus, but brands like HSBC Premier and Ritz-Carlton.

Regarding Michael’s appointment, Saatchi West Coast/Team One chairman/CEO Kurt Ritter sings her praises, saying:

“Julie is a proven executive and visionary leader who enjoys the respect and esteem of both clients and agency colleagues. She has been in all the right chairs to provide exceptional leadership in this position, and we are pleased and fortunate to be able to name her as our new president.”

Michael will be replaced by another Team One veteran, Paul Silverman, who’s been with the agency since 2005 and will now assume the dual roles of executive director/account management and managing director of its Texas office.

Team One Reveals Live Action Trailer for 2K’s Evolve

Team One has just revealed a live action trailer for 2K’s new game Evolve, which will be released on February 10th.

Set to a choral rendition of The Fugees,’ the trailer, entitled “Ready or Not” builds an air of mystery as a group of teens seem to play a game of Manhunt in the woods. Suddenly, another youngster runs and jumps from a ledge, landing in a pool of water and letting out a roar. The trailer doesn’t reveal much in the way of the game’s story, but does end with a brief look at game footage following a list of accolades and critical praise. The trailer (and soundtrack selection) refer to the fact that, according to a press release, “At its core, the title is an intense game of Hide and Seek.”

A broadcast version of the ad will appear during the premieres of Walking Dead and Better Call Saul on AMC this Sunday.

Team One Launches Annual ‘December to Remember’ Push for Lexus

Team One has launched the annual “December to Remember” holiday sales event for Lexus with a new integrated campaign built around three broadcast spots.

In each of the 30-second spots parents present a different explanation for how exactly Santa manages to deliver a luxury sedan. The parents in “Christmas Train” explain how an iconic holiday train made its way to their driveway, where elves helped unload it right to the driveway — complete with Lexus’ signature red bow. In “Magic Box,” the car magically self-assembles from a small box Santa places in the driveway, while in “Teleporter” it is beamed in directly from the North Pole.

The broadcast spots begin airing today on network and cable television, with “Christmas Train” also being translated for Hispanic and Asian-American markets. Additionally, the campaign is supported by print and OOH executions, as well as a digital partnership with The Weather Channel which will “provide targeted December Sales Event ads in real time based on local weather conditions.”

“The holidays are a time of year when people indulge their imaginations and share stories filled with magic and wonder,” said Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing. “This year’s holiday campaign celebrates the tradition of storytelling and reminds us that children aren’t the only ones who get to have fun this time of year.” (more…)

Team One Introduces RC Coupe for Lexus

Team One is launching a campaign today to introduce Lexus’ first-ever RC 350 sport coupe and RC F performance coupe.

The multimedia campaign is centered around a pair of broadcast spots promoting each of the new vehicles. In “Face Off,” actor Wes Bentley (Seneca Crane in The Hunger Games, that creepy voyeur kid in American Beauty) confidently walks into a dark factory. As he glances at the Lexus RC Coupe, he likes what he sees (and for some reason lightbulbs explode as he unlocks the door) and he drives off smiling. The spot ends with the tagline, “Once driven, there’s no going back.”

“No Limits” was inspired by the RC F reveal video, and touts the vehicle’s powerful performance as barrier-breaking. It combines footage of the RC F racing through turns with athletes pushing their bodies to the limits.

Both spots launch today and will air during prime time, late night, cable, network television and cable sports, including “multiplatform ownerships within the Thursday Night Football Halftime Show on CBS and NFL Network.” In addition to the general market spots, “three additional RC F commercials geared toward multicultural audiences will also air at launch.” The broadcast efforts will be supported by digital, print and OOH executions.
