Oreo Is Now Making Tasty-Style Recipe Videos for Some of Its Stranger Flavors

If you’re looking for a low-calorie dessert that mixes avocados and chocolate, then Oreos has a video for you.

To promote new special-edition mint and strawberry-cheesecake flavors of the classic sandwich cookie, packaged-foods conglomerate Mondelez is now making its own versions of the BuzzFeed Tasty-style, hands-and-ingredients recipe shorts that have exploded across Facebook feeds in recent years—because clearly, there weren’t enough already.

Today Only, See the Dreamland Behind This Mysterious Oreo Storefront in L.A.

Back in February, a weird Oreo door suddenly appeared on 18th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues in New York, promising untold wonders of cryptic cookie goodness. Now, Los Angeles gets its turn.

The cookie brand’s new Wonder Vault installation—created by 360i, Weber Shandwick and Momentum—will be open today only (Monday, July 11) at 1555 W. Sunset Blvd. from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. PDT. It’s an elaborate ad for Oreo’s new Choco Chip cookies, and it features rooms that will make adults feel like kids again, as everything within them is oversized.

360i Lights Inadvisable Campfires for Oreo

360i launched a new campaign for Oreo, promoting the release of Oreo S’mores (can someone explain why these weren’t called S’mOreos?) with animated ads featuring an unidentifiable forest creature named S’morey.

In each spot S’morey reacts to a campfire alarm, grabbing a package of Oreo S’mores and heading to the scene to prevent campfire disaster. S’morey gets his own 80s-inspired theme song, which describes him (inaccurately) as “a bit like a badger, a bit like a hare.” The creature comes to the rescue when s’more-craving people attempt to start campfires in a canoe, on a golf course and at work, putting out the fires before providing Oreo S’mores to satisfy their cravings. While the spots never quite hit the mark with their goofy humor, S’morey is a somewhat memorable character and provides a light-hearted illustration of the flavor’s selling point (easy access to S’more flavor, without the hassle of a campfire). The ads will run on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr, in addition to YouTube.

Oreo Welcomes the Royal Baby With a Message for Every Other Newborn Out There

As the world oohs and ahhs over Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, Oreo is here to remind you that all babies are special, whether or not they’re born into royalty. A nice message from The Martin Agency to the one demographic that can’t even chew solid food.

Check Out this YouTuber Making Some Insane Trick Shots With Oreo Cookies

Showing crazy trick shots is a pretty good way of getting viral video views, as we’ve seen in branded efforts from Wheaties (bowling), McDonald’s (soccer)—and of course, that old, fake-as-hell Michael Jordan and Larry Bird ad “Nothing But Net.”

Now there’s a new kid in town, Peter Bamforth—a YouTuber who makes “videos about anything and everything.” But he’s particularly adept at trick shots. His “EPIC Ping Pong Trick Shots” video from 2011 got 300,000 views.

And now, he’s returned with more trick shots—starring Oreo cookies.

It’s a pretty impressive feat, not only because of the level of inventiveness in materials, but also for the patience this kid must have. Check it out below.

Oreo Gets 10 Artists to Produce Beautifully Dreamy Outdoor Illustrations

The “Play with OREO” campaign, which launched in January, continues this month with a lovely new set of out-of-home ads featuring groovy illustrations from 10 artists.

The artists were given words to play off—functional ones like “dunk” and “twist,” as well as more emotional ones like “dream” and “wonder”—and asked to come up with a scene that brings those words to life. The only requirement was that the scene include a character with the Oreo cookie wafer as the face/head.

The ads will run outdoors in New York City, Los Angeles and Indianapolis and shared through Oreo social channels starting this week. The featured artists are Shotopop, Jeff Soto, Ryan Todd, McBess, Andrew Bannecker, Geoff McFetridge, Andy Rementer, Alex Trochut, Craig and Karl and Brosmind.

360i Gets Seductive for Oreo

360i collaborated with production company Shadowmachine to launch an animated campaign celebrating the Valentine’s Day limited release of Red Velvet Oreos.

The agency has fun with the holiday theme in the spots, jokingly giving the brand’s Valentine’s Day treats aphrodisiac-like qualities. In “The Bus,” a woman, aptly described by Adweek as looking “kind of like a middle-aged Daria,” (that the animation style recalls that classic MTV series only makes the comparison even more appropriate) eats a Red Velvet Oreo on the bus and then proceeds to slowly slide her hand up the bus pole to flirt with the guy next to her. Another, similarly-themed spot employs a similar aesthetic and features a clerk unable to move a box of the treats away from the scanner while getting suggestive with a customer.

Valentine’s Day spots have a tendency to get overly sentimental or nauseatingly cutesy, but 360i’s lightheartedly humorous approach for Oreo feels just right. While it may not reach the same heights as the agency’s collaboration with designer Lori Nix for Halloween, the campaign creates a goofy holiday mood perfect for the brand, wetting viewers appetites for the new product’s limited release in the process. The brand will roll out a new spot in the series each day this week, in a lead up to Valentine’s Day.

Red Velvet Oreos Are a Delightfully Awkward Aphrodisiac in Quirky Valentine Cartoons

If regular Oreos don’t already put you in the mood for love, maybe try the cookie’s new Red Velvet flavor. The limited-edition Valentine’s Day product stars in a new animated campaign from 360i, and is presented as an awkward aphrodisiac for strangers.

The effects of Red Velvet Oreos might include a woman who looks kind of like a middle-aged Daria sliding her grip up a bus pole to touch the hand of the rocker hunk next to her. (In fact, the whole aesthetic seems inspired by ’90s MTV cartoons.) And let’s just say the dude is not moving his mitt away, either.

Irresistible cookie romance could also strike at the checkout counter, or 35,000 feet above sea level (because someone couldn’t resist a nod to the Mile High Club). In other words, Red Velvet Oreos are like the Axe of cookies. (Its advertising is just—appropriately—quirkier and more subtle than most of the body spray’s.)

There are six spots in total, with a new one rolling out each day this week. The brand says they’re meant for people who aren’t psyched about Valentine’s Day. That makes some sense, because while Red Velvet Oreos might be a dubious gift, it’s perfectly appropriate to shame-eat a pack while sitting alone at home watching rom-com marathons while everyone else is paired off and having a good time out on the town.

And whether or not Red Velvet Oreos will actually get you laid, one thing is for sure—more people should carry fanny packs with cookies in them.

The Martin Agency Plays with Oreo

The Martin Agency launched a new global campaign for Oreo, called “Play With Oreo.”

“Fans have always played with Oreo in a number of unique ways by twisting, licking, dunking, rolling, stacking and dipping the cookie. Now, the brand is on a mission to inspire imagination and play around the globe, not only with the cookie itself, but in consumer’s everyday lives,” the brand explained to Adweek.

Coming on the heels of such playful efforts as 360i’s Halloween “Nomsters,” the new campaign is far from a dramatic shift for the brand. Indeed, the new ad keeps the “Wonderfilled” platform (and tagline) intact. The animated spot, set to an original tune by French electro-pop act Yelle, focuses on all the different ways consumers play with and tweak their Oreos. “It’s so easy to let your imagination go when you play with Oreo,” the song (and spot) concludes.

It comes across as a pretty natural evolution for the brand, building on previous “Wonderfilled” efforts as the brand sharpens its focus on imagination and play. The ad will make its U.S. broadcast debut — in both 15 and 30 second versions — next Monday, eventually airing in over 40 countries. In other Oreo news, the brand confirmed that Red Velvet Oreos will be released in time for Valentine’s Day.

Oreo Launches 'Play With Oreo' Campaign, Rolls Out Red Velvet Oreos for Valentine's Day

Lots of big brands are all about distilling their essence down to a single basic universal theme. For Coca-Cola, it’s happiness. McDonald’s is trying to go with loving. And now Oreo is zeroing in on the concept of play—in new ads and in consumer’s lives.

The Mondelez brand on Tuesday launches a new campaign (still under the “Wonderfilled” platform) called “Play with Oreo.” “Fans have always played with Oreo in a number of unique ways by twisting, licking, dunking, rolling, stacking and dipping the cookie. Now, the brand is on a mission to inspire imagination and play around the globe, not only with the cookie itself, but in consumer’s everyday lives,” Oreo tells us.

We’ll see how that plays out. The campaign begins with a new animated “Wonderfilled” commercial from The Martin Agency featuring music by the French electro-pop duo Yelle. The ad, which breaks next Monday in the U.S. in 15- and 30-second formats, will run in more than 40 countries, including China, the U.K., Indonesia, France and Argentina.

Also great news for Oreo fans: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the brand is rolling out Red Velvet Oreos with cream cheese-flavored centers—the first new Oreo cookie flavor since the debut of the Golden OREO. They hit store shelves on Feb. 2 for a limited time, or you can visit OREORedVelvetRope.com for a chance to get an early taste.

Looking for a Weird Way to Settle Scores? Oreo Suggests You 'Lick for It'

Oreo would like you to start solving your conflicts by scrubbing its cookies against your tongue as fast as you possibly can.

This new spot from AKQA London (and Mind’s Eye director Luke Bellis) shows pairs of what appear to be siblings and friends squaring off over various disputes—like riding shotgun in a car whose backseat is stuffed to the brim, picking what to watch on TV, or taking the blame for knocking the head off a statue with a soccer ball. But instead of, you know, flipping a coin or playing Rock Paper Scissors, they whip out Double Stuf Oreos, put on the stupidest faux-intense-concentration faces they can muster, and compete to be first to transfer all the cream from their cookies onto their tongues.

“We’ve all got something to settle,” reads the copy. “Lick for it,” adds the tagline, using a verb that doesn’t quite accurately describe the action portrayed in the preceding spot.

It’s a somewhat strange commercial, with slightly too much close-up footage of people’s mouths, and it can’t help but evoke Tootsie Roll Pops, which long ago cornered the repetitive-licking theme in advertising. But maybe it’s just not meant for olds like us to understand. The target demographic is clearly tween-ish, a point driven home by the bad dubstep soundtrack.

It is hard to believe any sane person would have the patience not to just eat the cookie.

Oreo dá continuidade a Wonderfilled com Dare to Wonder

Tegan and Sara Sing the Latest Oreo Commercial, and It’s Pretty Great

I never thought I'd hear Tegan and Sara in an Oreo commercial, but I also never thought Tegan and Sara would make bouncy dance pop, so everything's up in the air at this point.

The Canadian duo provided a pretty awesome version of the "Wonderfilled" jingle for this "Dare to Wonder" ad from The Martin Agency (it first aired during the Grammys) promoting a series of limited-release Oreo flavors including berry, peanut butter, lemon and mint. Honestly, all those sound really gross, but the jingle is right in line with Tegan and Sara's lyrical sensibilities, and of course they didn't even write them—the ad agency did.

Living in a world where Tegan and Sara play a song they didn't write for the purpose of selling junk food feels a bit strange, but they've said they don't make albums to keep their old fans, so perhaps that same principle has been applied here.

O filme traz crianças cantando “Is This Love” do Bob Marley & the Wailers, enquanto um caminhão de Oreo chega na cidade.

Vamos acompanhar.
