Heather LeFevre Previews Upcoming Book at Creata London Offices

Heather LeFevreHeather LeFevre, the Planning Survey founder who returned to Miami CP+B as a group planning director about a year ago, (she recently got married in the office) was a guest speaker at the offices of Creata London yesterday afternoon.

LeFevre talked about her year traveling around the world, to different agencies in different cultures, which preceded her return to CP+B. She is currently working on a book about the experience, called Strategist Gone Rogue: Pearls of Wisdom Stolen From Around the World. During that year she picked up on different approaches from senior planners around the world and made many observations about the different marketing climates in different countries. Those pearls of wisdom were on display during the talk, something of a preview for the upcoming book. You can read more about Heather and her travels on her blog, “Buy me, I’ll change your life.”

Best Buy, CP+B Launch Final Back-to-School ‘Techfitter’ Spot

Continuing their back-to-school Techfitter campaign, Best Buy and CP+B are providing Tim Kong, an aspiring games designer, with the tech he needs to design and code his next action-packed adventures. Previously, Best Buy “techfitted” a marine biology major and an aerospace engineer with a set of Windows 8 gadgets.

This new spot is comparatively less exciting, maybe because stars and oceans are grander than grungy cars and code. Consequently, I wish we had more of a storyline. Is Tim Kong really just going to make a new Grand Theft Auto, or do his interests lie somewhere specific? And in that case, can we hear what he has to say? At this point, he’s a Stock Student who knows how to make a good surprised/awesome face.

But maybe it’s better that he’s a basic video games enthusiast. Many current college kids must relate, and it’s a good thing Best Buy has a spot specifically geared towards forward-thinking, technology-centered students, hence the girl scientist, a guy scientist, and a gamer. If only the campaign lasted longer and their next subject is a fashion girl, conveniently coinciding with Fashion Week. Ah, what could’ve been.

Planning Vet Lefevre Heads Back to CP+B

It’s been a busy week on the staffing front at CP+B. Just days after announcing a slew of creative hires in its L.A. office, the Boulder-based agency brings us the news that it’s welcomed back Heather Lefevre, who you might remember from this clip, to serve as group planning director in its Miami office. Lefevre initially worked at Crispin from fall 2007-2008 as a senior cognitive anthropologist (can never get enough of that title) and was part of the multiple award-winning teams that worked on Whopper Freakout and Whopper Sacrifice.

During her career, she’s also held planning positions at the likes of what was then StrawberryFrog Amsterdam as well as DDB Amsterdam, The Martin Agency and Mullen. Lefevre’s not the only one reuniting with CP+B, though, as the agency has also welcomed back Greg O’Neal to serve as account director on Bing. O’Neal’s first tour of duty at CP+B lasted two years and during his career, the account vet worked at the likes of Razorfish and BBH.
