Dutch Customs: Scan App

The Dutch customs launched a mobile app for travelers to check what they can bring in and out of the country. The app features an ‘OK-scan’ where users can check their bags in the same way that customs officials do. Every scan results in a different (fake) picture of the inside of a bag, including an item that will raise eyebrows, such as weapons, counterfeit, protected goods and cash. Using another function ‘Is this ok’, travelers can check customs rules on these items.

Findus Fish: Fish Choir

[See post to watch Flash video]

Several Parisian billboards were modified so as to become stages for a special show. 25 fish, activated by a motion detector, performed 24/7 a funny version of the K.C. and the sunshine band’s hit ‘Shake your booty’ in front of pedestrians and thus demonstrated what the new Findus range offers – only selected fish.

Brandhouse Drive Dry: A Life Wrecked

Brandhouse liquor company’s Drive Dry initiative wanted those attending the Whisky Live Festival to be discouraged from driving home under the influence. The personal belongings of Heather Cosser – a woman killed by a drunk driver – were collected from her family. Her belongings were crushed with an entire car in a heavy-duty compressor. An installation was created to dramatise that drinking and driving wrecks more than just your car.

Mercedes-Benz: Magazine Corner

“See what lies beyond headlights with Night View Assist.”

Challenge: Even the most powerful headlights have limits. For that reason, Mercedes-Benz offers Night View Assist, which uses infrared technology to enable its driver to see what cannot normally be seen at night. We were asked to show the effectiveness of Night View Assist in an interesting and memorable way.

Solution: In our print solution, the media becomes the message when the viewer folds down the page corner, and it points out a deer on the side of the road. It´s exactly what Night View Assist does for its driver, even on the darkest of nights.

Result: Traffic to the Mercedes-Benz website went up, and dealers noticed increased interest in the Night View Assist feature.

TV2: Lost Maze

Lost is a show known for its strange plot twists and confusing storylines, that always kept its viewers guessing. So Colenso BBDO decided to have a bit of fun and do the same to promote the show’s 6th and final season, and introduced an outdoor campaign of lost ‘Lost’ billboards. These special build billboards were placed around New Zealand in all sorts of odd places, then they had their photos and were uploaded on TVNZ’s website for the public to guess the locations. Weekly Lost prizes were won by those who guessed right, and new lost ‘Lost’ locations were uploaded as the season went on. And yes, they were finally all found. As for the show itself, who the hell knows what happened

Foundation Rwanda: Changing Perspectives | Changing Futures

“You can’t erase the past. Help write a better future.”

The word, Rwanda, immediately brings to mind thoughts of war, destruction and genocide. With this flip book an image of war turns into an image of hope. It changes the viewer¹s perspective from the past to the future in the same way an education can change a child¹s future from despair to hope. The book is being distributed in multiple locations to raise awareness and donations for this important cause.

Bounce: Scented Garment Tree

Leo Burnett Melbourne, working on an international Procter & Gamble brief, brought springtime early to a grey and gloomy Toronto park. Taking socks, t-shirts and other items of clean laundry we fashioned them into colourful flowers and scented them with Bounce. We then used them to help a leafless tree blossom back into life. Passersby could pick the fabric flowers, smell them and unravel them to discover the source of the spring fresh scent was something that they could bring to their own laundry with Bounce dryer sheets.
