We made a real casting of children between 3 and 5 years for a supposed TV ad . The children had to imitate various wildlife. After we interviewed the parents and explained the conditions in which their children would work during filming. Hunger, stress, thirst, separation of mothers, electrical shocks, amputations, among others. The campaign ends with the slogan : It’s true. It’s cruel. These are the conditions which wild animals used in advertising, TV and cinema, undergo.

This Browser Extension Replaces Boring Old Preroll With the World's Best Ads

Looking for a browser extension that approaches ad blocking a bit more creatively? D&AD and Paris agency BETC have just the thing.

The British ad organization, which just handed out its 2015 awards last week, has now released The Ad Filter, an extension for Chrome and Firefox that blocks regular preroll ads and automatically replaces them with D&AD winners from past years.

It might seem odd for an ad group and a famous agency to promote ad blocking, but D&AD and BETC say the plug-in is designed to “celebrate creativity by inspiring and stimulating people in the industry and beyond.”

“We wanted to demonstrate that people don’t hate advertising, they just hate bad advertising,” says Olivier Apers, creative director BETC Paris.

Check out the demo below, and download The Ad Filter here. It certainly works. I installed it, and quickly saw Vodafone’s “The Kiss,” Hahn SuperDry’s “Pioneering Beering” and LG Kompressor Elite’s “Somethings Lurking” spots.

Trois amies ont décidé de parcourir les lieux de tournage des plus grands succès cinématographiques et télévisuels, d’y intégrer à l’aide d’une tablette les scènes qui y ont été tournées et de poster le résultat sur leur blog. « Forest Gump », « Game of Thrones » ou encore « Sherlock » entre autres sont ainsi mis en scène dans les décors. La précision du travail offre une nouvelle manière d’apprécier ces films et séries télévisées.

Inside the Hive Installation

Le studio Wolfgang Buttress s’est occupé d’une installation dans le pavillon anglais du Milan Expo 2015, débutée depuis le 1er mai. « Inside the Hive » est une sculpture architecturale et monumentale qui imite les ruches d’abeilles, avec des formes d’alvéoles. La nuit, l’installation s’éclaire grâce à un dispositif de lumières LED.

GSD&M, Petsmart Part Ways After Less Than Seven Months


Just seven months after tapping Omnicom’s GSD&M as its agency, Petsmart is bringing the bulk of its advertising in-house.

The move comes after Petsmart was bought by a consortium led by BC Partners in December. That deal became final in mid-March. Two weeks later, Phil Bowman, exec VP-customer experience, a role that oversees marketing, left the company. He has since been replaced by Eran Cohen, whose hire was announced as part of a new leadership team in the wake of the private-equity acquisition.

Bringing its creative in-house isn’t new for the retailer. Prior to hiring GSD&M, the company had fielded much of its marketing in-house in recent years.

Nielsen Buys Neuromarketing Research Company Innerscope


In a bid to further hack its way into the consumer psyche, Nielsen has completed its acquisition of the Boston-based neuroscience firm Innerscope Research.

Founded in 2006 by neuroscientist Dr. Carl Marci and MIT alum Brian Levine, Innerscope uses biometrics such as brain scans and galvanic skin response to measure subconscious emotional responses to media and marketing.

By monitoring a subject’s heart rate, skin conductance and neural activity in certain key areas of the brain — as the cradle of memory formation, the hippocampus is obviously of keen interest, as are the nodes that regulate emotion and identity — Innerscope says it can provide marketers with unique insights into the complex interrelation between consumers and content.

Apple Beats Google For Top Spot in Global Brand Ranking


Apple’s value jumped 67% to $247 billion, while Google only increased 9% to $174 billion, according to the so-called BrandZ rankings, which factor in financial performance as well as consumer perception.

The 2015 list brings more bad news for McDonald’s, whose value dropped 5% to $81 billion, putting it at No. 9. The struggling fast feeder was ranked No. 5 last year, and was No. 4 in 2013. The only other top 10 brand to lose value was fourth-ranked IBM, whose value fell 13% to nearly $94 billion. Big Blue was surpassed by Microsoft, whose value jumped 28%. Verizon, which recently announced plans to acquire AOL, jumped to No. 7 from No. 11 last year.

Apple and Google have been jockeying for No. 1 in recent years, with Apple holding the top spot in 2012 and 2013 before Google took No. 1 last year. While the Apple Watch has been in the news lately, it was the iPhone 6 that drove Apple’s growth this year, according to Millward Brown.

Cave Exits

In video games, there is the concept of a dungeon that generates itself: an endlessly mutating death labyrinth.

Cave Exits sets this living structure inside a 4-channel video cube. Recalling the way we interact with online media —clicking, zooming, scrolling— it turns the visual archetype of the labyrinth into a circuit board for lost, anxious feelings. From a simple shift in perspective (moving from within the constricted maze-paths to a vantage high above the spatial coil) the claustrophobic corridors become a dazzling pattern of complex artistry. Viewers are unable to process all incoming information in a single sitting, having to choose between screens if they want to sate their curiosity and learn more about the shifting structure. Unlike choosing between branches in an interactive narrative where the peripheral is an explicit set of controls, here the peripheral will be the human neck and eyes, allowing for expression beyond mere hardware.
